I believe thats right. I really hate to use Alexa, but is there any other real metric?

Digg is a very very segmented site, people who go there have different interests hence not every digger sees all popular diggs.

Whereas in Slashdot, the users have similar interests and hence if there is any thing in the frontpage, majority of the users visit it, and slashdot frontpage stories last longer than digg frontpage stories.

I love how Digg / Reddit types seem to be completely oblivious to the fact that Scoop has had all these features and more for years and years.

Also, Slashdot still generates more traffic over time to a site than Digg's relatively short-lived front-page stories. http://www.kottke.org/06/01/digg-vs-slashdot

Digg users more readily letting their computers get infected with Alexa spyware is more a reflection on them than on the site's real popularity.
