@Erythro

I'm in Pakistan, it'll probably take 1 week to post it! I have committed myself to spreading Suse 10.2 atleast in my immediate area (http://www.linuxpakistan.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=32050#32050)

Right I agree with you that there is no "universal Linux distro". But as I see it is that Ubuntu is "hyped" more than other distros, maybe because they've got a great deal of funding behind them.

sure... it worked for you.

That "hyped (and obviously quite inferior)" distrobution Ubuntu Edgy, worked perfectly with my Acer 5050.

the "best" linux Suse 10.2 didn't detect the hd sound card(no sound) didn't detect the ethernet( a dead simple realtek 8139) and didn't work with wireless.

does this mean Suse is inferior because it didn't work for me on this computer?
Well, it is inferior for me( I actually loved it on my desktop) but it may be the best out there for someone else(like you).

Now, I am nota Ubuntu Fanboi, but its what worked for me, and I repect it for that. And now that i've started using it, I have begun to apreciate not running into dependency hell every time I turn the corner. No distrobution is perfect.
